Hugging the corner of what’s become, almost by accident, Liverpool’s ‘Gay Village’, the below-street-level Lisbon has been a gay-friendly pub well before Frankie went to Hollywood. Snooker, cheap beer, an anthem-filled jukebox and a bizarrely ornate moulded ceiling - the Lisbon is the premier meeting place for the city’s small but boisterous gay scene.
