Liverpool: Officially Hot

Liverpool's been selected as one of Europe's hottest destinations by CNN's international travel site. The city should be on 'everyone's wish list' they say...

The hugely influential annual CNN Hot List of the world’s must see destinations has been announced - and we’re on it! The list, compiled by leading travel and tourism experts, looks at holiday hotspots around the globe, and predicts where the biggest tourism draws are likely to be over the next 12 months.

Of us, they say: “Besides London, it’s arguably the most exciting destination in England at the moment, offering plenty of reasons to party well into the New Year.

They’re always on the money, having previously picked the resurgent Baltic capitals of Tallinn and Riga, and, last year singling out the cultural powerhouse of Florence.

This year, we share the accolade with the likes of Reykjavik, Helsinki and Berlin: excellent choices all. But Liverpool, as the only mainland UK city on the list, is sure to benefit from this US-based exposure, which can only be a good thing, now that our cruise terminal is up and running.

“Liverpool is a world class city,” says CNN’s Paul Treviss, “and, for a weekend city break its museums, theatres and nightlife are hard to beat. It’s no wonder the city is on so many travellers’ wish lists right now.”
