Radar: Pauline Daniels stars in Held at Playhouse Studio

Pauling Daniels returns to the Playhouse in the world premiere of Held at the Playhouse Studio later this year.

Days after the Playhouse’s extended world premiere of The Matchbox, the theatre has announced the next in-house production to take place in the secondary performance space, the Playhouse Studio.

Another world premiere, Held will feature the return of Pauline Daniels to the Playhouse, along with E&P regular Alan Stocks (most recently seen in A Streetcar Named Desire) and veteran theatre actor Ged McKenna.

All have previously appeared on stage at the Playhouse, which is hosting productions at its main stage and in the Studio performance space, which is being used as a breeding ground for new work.

Daniels will play the mother to Stocks and McKenna’s brothers in Held, a debut play by Joe Ward Munrow, which is the first play by a graduate of the Young Everyman Playhouse (YEP) Young Writers scheme.

Daniels has enjoyed a lengthy stage and TV career and previously appeared at the Everyman in the award-winning Unprotected, as well as memorable performances in Shirley Valentine, Breezeblock Park and And The Beat Goes On.

Held will run from Thursday 8 November, with the premiere a year after the Studio reopened as part of the Playhouse Centenary celebrations in November 2011.

The Studio has featured productions from YEP including Intimate and Illyria. Most recently the Studio hosted the world premiere of Frank McGuinness’s The Matchbox, with a lauded performance from Leanne Best.
