Radar: Liverpool Comedy Festival at the Unity Theatre

The Liverpool Comedy Festival is now under way, with shows all over the city until 7 October.

The full line-up includes household names like John Bishop, Jack Dee, Sarah Millican, Ross Noble, Stewart Francis and Jason Byrne but it will also comprise comedy workshops, debates and stand ups from the national circuit.

Simon Munnery leads the charge on collaborating with Liverpool Biennial to take comedy to some new audiences, while the Unity Theatre hosts its usual collection of one-man shows, with gigs from Robin Ince and Michael Legge, Alun Cochrane, Seann Walsh, Josh Widdicombe, Josie Long and Craig Hill.

On Wednesday 3 October Edinburgh favourite Alun Cochrane brings his critically acclaimed show Moments Of Alun to Liverpool.

Later the same evening Robin Ince and Michael Legge take to the stage. The show is Pointless Anger, Righteous Ire 2: Back in the Habit. When the award-winning comedians perform together they generally sell out, despite their best efforts to discourage people from turning up.

On Thursday 4 October, Lloyd Langford brings his shaggy-dog story to the theatre - be warned that the show contains jokes about bread and circumcision. The evening concludes with Craig Hill who brings his camp, subversive Jock’s Trap to Liverpool.

Josh Widdicombe, from Live at the Apollo, 8 Out Of 10 cats and the Edinburgh fringe will entertain on 5 October; a planned gig by Isy Suttie has been cancelled.

6 Music’s Josie Long brings her sixth solo show, Romance and Adventure, to the Unity on Saturday for the penultimate show.

Finally Argumental team captain and star of Never Mind the Buzzcocks Seann Walsh (left) brings his observational talents to the theatre’s last event.
