Radar: Dickens Double-Bill at St George’s Hall

A Dickens double-bill at St George's Hall brings together the grand old venue and one of the world's greatest writers one more time.

This one looks a bit special. We love our grand old venues being used imaginatively - and staging two Dickens stories in the St George’s Hall’s Concert Room, where the man himself gave readings over 100 years ago - strikes us as pretty perfect.

To mark the author’s bicentenary there will be two special performances, of A Christmas Carol – As Told By Jacob Marley (Deceased) and Fagin’s Last Hour, both written and performed by James Hyland.

The former is told from the perspective of Scrooge’s deceased business partner, while Fagin’s Last Hour covers the hour leading up to Fagin’s execution.

Both plays, by production company Brother Wolf, have won plenty of critical acclaim, with particular plaudits for Hyland in both roles.

Check out the trailer below for more - looks good enough to scare the Dickens out of people.
