Radar: The Uke Do at Mello Mello

Fans of the humble uke take note: you're going to love this...

Is it just us, or is the ukulele enjoying a serious comeback? Seemingly everyone’s at uke school these days or strumming their instrument in a pub.

The likes of Loose Moose, Sidney Baileys No Good Punchin Clowns and Flamin’ Mamies all wield the ukulele around Liverpool’s pubs and music venues – and now there’s a whole festival dedicated to the perfectly-formed instrument.

The Uke Do will take place in Mello Mello next month and brings the likes of UkuleleZaza, Liverpool’s own Ukule Uff and Lonesome Dave, and Ukulele Red and Lil’ Mamie Brown, with support from special guests.

The celebration of the little instrument brings together some of the best uke players in Europe – and there’s more good news for uke fans: Zaza will be host a ukulele workshop the day after the Do.

For that peculiar mix of ukulele heritage – sweet Pacific melodies and roaring 20′s Tin Pan Alley jazz numbers – it’s a clear no-brainer for any fans of the four-string.
