Radar: The Low Anthem

We love The Low Anthem. They're the perfect sultry mid summer soundtrack. We've got them. Is it too much to ask for the weather?

Yes, they appeared at a time when we were all loving that mid 70′s easy-listening Americana, but, with To Ohio, they transcended their peers with a perfect slice of wistful summer AOR, and had us hooked. Knotty follow up Smart Flesh saw them falter a little, with a palette all but stripped of colour, but their hearts were in the right place. These Rhode Island boys may speak softly, but they’re intent on melting your heart. And, live, their blues-tinged rock makes us remember why we fell in love with them in the first place. This tour is, they say “The last tour devoted to (Charlie Darwin and Smart Flesh), this incarnation. A final hurrah. A sweet goodbye. The refined completion of three years of work.”

A midsummer gig worth getting hot under the collar about, we’d say. Altogether now, ‘left Louisiana on the rail line…’
