Radar: Michael Nyman at The Phil

What is it with contemporary classical composers? They obviously travel in packs. Hot on the heels of Einaudi, the Phil announces an autumn concert with the Michael Nyman Band. Nyman, as if you needed telling, is one of Britain’s most innovative composers. His works encompass opera and string quartets, film soundtracks and orchestral concertos. You might know him for The Draftsman’s Contract, or his beautiful score written for Jane Campion’s film The Piano as well as a commission for Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture year. In this show The Michael Nyman Band brings you a special evening featuring some of his most critically acclaimed and loved works. It’s his first appearance at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall since 2005 and it’s sure to be a sell-out. So you heard it here first. Or second.
