Now Playing: Dan Croll

Dan Croll's new single has slipped onto Radio One a month or so before it's released. Check it out here.

It’s not out til September, but that hasn’t stopped ex-Liverpool Uni boy Nick Grimshaw playing ex LIPA boy Dan Croll’s new single on his Radio 1 show.

“Every now and then, I fall a little bit behind…” Croll sings on ‘From Nowhere’ - a song that’s resolutely all front. Shotgun reverb, twanging Dwane Eddy guitars, echoey bar room piano and a sexy bossa nova backbeat. It’s like Lee Hazlewood meets Astrud Gilberto in some Williamsburg basement bar.

The result is an insanely catchy slice of multi-instrumental chutzpah. And another example of the globe-spanning influences Croll wears so lightly.

We’ve been expecting great things from Dan. He’s not disappointed.

You can listen to it for the next five days right here. And fast forward all the usual Grimshaw nonsense, go straight to 1:48:40 for the Croll
