Who are they?
Consisting of John Crawford, Chris Lynn, David Kelly and Joe Falconer, Vasco Da Gama are one of the leading proponents of math-rock in Liverpool having supported the likes of Errors, Los Campesinos and Tera Melos as well as headlining their own raucous shows.
Why we approve
Having played a large number of shows over the last few years, Vasco Da Gama have become a fiercely proficient live unit, something that is unbelievably essential yet frustratingly rare in this punchy form of rock music.
Playing with this level of confidence and professionalism allows for greater showmanship too, which gives Vasco the edge over many a young progressive band staring at their feet on stage.
In short, if you like your pop songs proggy and your prog songs poppy then Vasco Da Gama are your guys.
Sound bite
“Math-rock suggests it’s very calculated and contrived, which is the opposite for our music”. - John Crawford in Bido Lito!
