Music Lessons: The Tea Street Band

The Tea Street Band's year in the (Balearic) sun continues with another gig pre Christmas. And after their blinding Sound City gig their place on the musical map of the city is secure.

Who are they?

Consisting of members of the now defunct the Maybes?, the Tea Street Band are a whole different animal to the indecisively named previous incarnation. Sticking in a traditional guitar-band format, the Tea Street Band pedal euphoric Ibiza tinged dance music to great effect.

Why we approve

Relying on a tried and tested formula of tension and release, lifts and drops, the Tea Street Band channel the clean shimmering sounds of British rave culture right through to late 90s Eurotrance whilst maintaining the grit and dynamism of a guitar band. Their live performances never disappoint and convince even the most hardened rockists to throw caution to the wind and fling their hands in the air.

Sound bite

“We just felt we needed an uplift and upbeat euphoric music seemed to be an idea that we wanted to work towards.” – Timo Tierney in SevenStreets
