Flying Without Wings

No airborne toxic event - quite the contrary - this Friday, as two of the city's high flying new bands keep the chills at bay.

Those Fly With Vampire chaps, they know their way around a tune. Snappy indie-pop with harmonies layered as lovely as a WI Victoria sponge, the Fly With Vampires recipe guarantees to get the blood pumping. And the go-to band of the moment, Owls* are the ‘ones’ most right-minded musos are telling us to ‘watch’. We have been. We’re impressed. Atmospheric, intelligent and poetic, Owls* offer a widescreen palette of textures and sounds. So, all in all, this Friday at The Masque, Seel Street, looks like being a belter (if you’re not at Static for Jim Noir, that is).

A city dusted with snow, a flighty Christmas show with Fly With Vampires and Owls*, and a suitably gorgeous wintery flyer. All we need is a few bars of Walking in the Air to top off the airborne festive fun and we’ll be unable to sleep with the excitement of it all…
