There are any number of beardy singer-songwriters plying their wares in concert halls around the globe, but none quite as captivating as Sam Beam. Otherwise known as Iron and Wine, he’s been creating glorious modern folk for over a decade and heads to Liverpool next spring.

Beam’s transformation from bedroom songwriter to indie sensation has been a gradual one - from his scratchy, lo-fi early recordings through to his forays into full-band rock workouts, his back catalogue’s packed with some shockingly varied, ambitious and downright epic gems.

Not only consistently defying people’s expectations (including an inclusion on the tween-tastic Twilight soundtrack and a penchant for, er, reggae breakdowns) but also consistently brilliant, his appearance at the Philharmonic - in support of forthcoming album ‘Kiss Each Other Clean’ - should be one of your first bookings next season.
