We’re spoilt again: in a season that sees a slew of stunningly talented underground musicians visit Liverpool, it’s been announced that arguably the country’s finest is set to make an appearance in the city.

Kent-based artist Alexander Tucker has been stunning critics and audiences alike since he first emerged over ten years ago. Since then, he’s forged a reputation as one of the most impressive and forward-thinking musicians the UK’s ever produced.

Looping guitar, vocals and mandolin, it’s Tucker’s blatant disregard for structure and audience expectation that makes him utterly thrilling. His deconstructed folk music, woven into flowing soundscapes, has meant he’s a favourite with everyone from Tate Britain, who he’s produced soundtracks for, to geeky indie curators All Tomorrow’s Parties.

Signed to boundary-pushing indie label Thrill Jockey, new album ‘Dorwytch’ is set to be the one that really grabs people’s attention. More song-based and focused, he’s set to debut a batch of the new material when he heads underground to the intimate Don’t Drop The Dumbells venue later this month. Local prog gang Beast and psychedelic kings Carlton Melton support.
