There’s some good music coming out of the ol’ US of A lately - from fuzzy beach-rock to swooning folk, lately most of SevenStreets’ iPod seems to consist of artists from ‘over the water’.

Texan gang Neon Indian, the brainchild of frontman Alan Palomo, are no different - they appeared last year with an impressive debut album, caused a fuss on all the hippest music blogs, and have subsequently been careering across the globe on a tidal wave of hype. But what’s so special about them? Quite simply, they’re great: a mixture of Phoenix-style melancholy pop, retro AM radio classics, with a pulsating dance music heartbeat.

Currently working their way around the European festival circuit, Neon Indian head to our favourite new city venue The Shipping Forecast on 22nd August. They’ve not toured much over here yet, so it’s one of your first chances to catch them before they squirrel themselves away to work on their eagerly anticipated second record. Get it while it’s hot.
