MOBO Awards to return to Liverpool in November

The MOBOs had such a great time in 2010 they decided to come back in 2012. The awards ceremony heads to the Echo Arena...

Hooray! We love a good awards ceremony here at SevenStreets. The MTV Music Awards made a big impact here in 2008, and the blinged-out, slick MOBO Awards in 2010 made us want to attempt an ill-advised career in hip hop. Both televised awards shows, they brought hundreds of thousands of pounds into the city - and that was just Tinie Tempah’s bar tab.

It’s hard to really gauge how much impact these kinds of awards have with long-term tourism, but locally and economically it’s a total win for us every time one rolls out the red carpet in the city. At least for one night. Clubs and bars are full, hotels are rammed and we get to re-start the rumour that we spotted Beyoncé in Greggs noshing a pastie.

This year’s MOBO awards - which celebrates the best in Britisn and worldwide urban music - heads to the Echo Arena on November 3rd. No word about any artists involved yet, but cheeky rap-pop scamps Rizzle Kicks were part of the press conference announcement this morning at Tate Liverpool. Ticket information is set to be revealed in the coming weeks.
