Killing Time: Brandon Flowers plays the O2 Academy

Las Vegas export pays a solo visit to the city this autumn

Brandon Flowers

Despite SevenStreets walking out of The Killers’ first ever Liverpool gig (they were so terrible it made us want to have no ears), we’ll admit that over they years they’ve slowly but surely written themselves a back catalogue of sprightly and impressively shiny US power pop.

Frontman Brandon Flowers releases debut solo album ‘Flamingo’ on September 6th - according to him, it’s a bunch of songs that weren’t quite Killers-y enough for The Killers. But we’ve heard a sneak preview of it, and the electronic-tinged rock won’t be that much of a shock to the system for anyone who’s found themselves bellowing along to ‘Somebody Told Me’. Flowers is now a bona fide megastar, having headlined every festival in the world and made it OK for lager-swilling lads to listen to David Bowie, so his rare appearance in the city as part of an intimate solo tour is definitely one to pencil in.
