Africa Oye

Forget droning World Cup stadia - head to Sefton Park for some authentic African sounds

SevenStreets generally manages to miss Africa Oye and the event, which takes place in Sefton Park, has often fallen foul of the great British summer.

We’re usually to be found strapping on pads and polishing leather at the nearby cricket club, but the carnival atmosphere provides a fantastic backdrop to a day running around a field.

This year we aim to go one better and take full advantage of the diverse line-up and workshops - an altogether more pleasing sound of Africa than 10,000 vuvuzelas.

And if it all gets a bit much, we’re heading for massage in the Calm Zone.
