Get Hockneyed Up: a David Hockney Night School
Labels: Announcements / Art & Creativity / homotopia / Pick / radar / Walker Art Gallery
As part of Homotopia, Britain’s greatest living painter (in our humble opinion) is given the flashback treatment: Hockey’s scratchy, urgent and deeply personal early works show an artist grappling with demons and desires (11 October 3 - 16 March Walker Art Gallery).
But, to really get the full story, try this: in tandem with the upcoming Walker Art Gallery show, Liverpool University is offering a night school course which looks at Hockney’s strident and passionate early works. Presented by Dr Judith Walsh at University of Liverpool, it’s a 5 week course tracing Hockney’s career from his art college days in the 1950s to his John Moores prize in 1967 and his time in Los Angeles in the 1970s. A visit to the exhibition will be included.
