Radar: New Beer Festival Coming To Liverpool

Stand-by for a whole new beer festival in Liverpool at Camp & Furnace, courtesy of the Liverpool Craft Brewery.

It’s been heartening to see how Liverpool’s microbreweries have flourished in the last few years. Liverpool’s ale-swillers have Gordon Brown to thank for that – smaller brewers get a cut in booze duty, meaning the number of smaller breweries has exploded in the last decade.

You can see beers from Liverpool’s Liverpool One, Liverpool Organic, Brimstage and Peerless breweries have all popped up on Merseyside in the last ten years. Chances are you can find them in many pubs around Liverpool and at various beer festivals.

Another microbrewery, Liverpool Craft, is coming up on the outside too, having only formed in 2010 with a home-brew ethic and a DIY outlook. The last couple of years has seen excellent brews like Tan Mahuta cropping up around Liverpool; not to mention Brown Bear, made with honey from the Wirral, made specially for Camp & Furnace.

So it’s perhaps logical that the next step is a fully-fledged beer festival, powered by Liverpool Craft beers and stages at one of the city’s best new venues. Come June, the Baltic Triangle will see The Liverpool Craft Beer Expo presenting beers from a selection or modern brewers, street food and variety of entertainment over three days in the furnace, the lobby and camp.

Liverpool Craft founders, Paul Seiffert and Terry Langton, promise that the Expo will see a choice of beers driven by quality, not quantity and will see cask and keg brews alongside a whiskey lounge courtesy of Hope Street bar, The 23 Club. You can browse the list of brewers using the link below, but keep checking back for updates.

Tickets for The Liverpool Craft Beer Expo are now from Camp & Furnace on Greenland Street, The 23 Club on Hope Street and The Grapes on Knight Street. Alternatively head to the Liverpool Craft Expo website.
