That’s Boss, la.

New stores for Liverpool ONE. But is this a net gain, or a crafty shuffle? Time will tell.

Adding to the woes of the Met Quarter, Hugo Boss has signed up for a new store in Peter’s Lane - the smarter end of Liverpool ONE. Boss, which also currently runs a store at the Met Quarter, says its new store is to feature the Boss Black range (elegant menswear in muted colours, apparently), and won’t compete with the Met Quarter. We’ll see. Utility, too, is to open a third store, in the old Wheels of Sport unit, opposite John Lewis. We’ll be watching closely to see if this is yet another example of shuffle around, rather than genuine new additions to the city’s shopping scape - and hope that it’s not another nail in Bold Street’s coffin.

The only reason Boss is expanding into Liverpool One is on the back of their success in Metquarter. A second store won’t make any difference to Metquarter - I know where I’d rather shop and it’s not down Peter’s Lane.
