Radar: Threshold Launch at Studio 2

We can hardly keep up with Threshold Fest. If it’s not a fundraiser or trailblazer it’s something, well, like this: a mini fest crammed into a day and night’s fun at Studio 2, Parr St this weekend (it was previously scheduled for the Picket). It’s the official launch of their 2013 Festival. Keep up at the back.

“We’re starting in the afternoon with a Pillbox Vintage fair soundtracked by the next generation’s hottest acoustic acts,” Threshold’s Andy Minnis tells us, speaking of SevenStreets’ favourite, the teenage kicks of Dominic Dunn (pic).

“This being a Threshold event of course, it’s not just about the music. We’ve got our yarn-bombers working on dressing the venue and the fantastic Mr. Wolf are bringing their own brand of twisted shadow puppetry and visuals to the event. To keep everyone going, we’ll also be selling Swedish waffles throughout the evening, served by a genuine Swede!” Which is great, as we hate those pseudo-Swedes ruining it for everyone.

“As the evening draws in, the main event begins with some awesome bands, such as touring Swedish rhythmic pop outfit People of K and LIPA urban marvel Orian, who were both highlights at Sound City back in May,” he says.

Sparky indie-rock outfit Trails will debut in the city, together with postrock innovators Fonetiks and the electro-popping Statement Haircut.

Topping off the bill is ready-to-rocket band Towns from Weston Super-Mare who have been New Band of the Day in The Guardian and have become a regular name in The Fly and on 6 Music.

“Last but not least, we’re absolutely thrilled to have the raucous, show-stopping Louis Barabbas & The Bedlam Six who will be launching their latest single as part of the night!”

Also, good news: Threshold have announced their official charity partner this time will be North West Cancer Research Fund. A great cause - March’s festival is set to be ace. More news soon.
