Radar: Threshold Festival

It's that time again. Threshold promises to get the party started, with a weekend full of fresh young things, playing for our pleasure in the Baltic Triangle.

We loved last year’s free-for-all at the CUC - an ebullient stall-setter for things to come, we said at the time. We think we were on to something. This year’s festival looks like being a belter. Yes, it’s not ‘Britain’s biggest weekend festival under the one roof’ any more. But we kinda think that’s the least of its worries. And we also like the fact that it’s spread neatly across some of the best venues to the south of the city centre. Who doesn’t love a night in the Nordic Church, for example?

So, this year, the recipe’s the same: grassroots, emerging, exciting local talent and a carefully curated pick and mix of visiting talent: bands, poets, playwrights, exhibitions and vintage fashion. Keep an eye out for Sandi Thom, Louis Barabbas and the Bedlam Six, The Roost, Shona Foster and the dextrous delights of DJ JFB. And we’ve not even begun to map out which after parties we’re heading to.

You know what, this could well be the glue that’ll keep the Baltic Triangle together. Go show your support. Get your January sale tickets before…well, before February.
