Radar: TEDxMerseyside: The New Futurism

TEDxMerseyside's next event promises to explore matters as diverse as biotechnology, space travel and non-verbal communication.

TEDxMerseyside’s next event promises to explore matters as diverse as biotechnology, space travel and non-verbal communication.

The next event kicks off 4 February, hosted by John Moores’ Open labs and in the suitably Ballardian surroundings of the Art and Design Academy.

The event is Merseyside’s take on the localised TEDx notion - a reflection of the annual TED geek jamboree in California that has its speakers talk for 18 minutes only.

The overall theme is The New Futurism and speakers will look at what innovations and challenges the near future brings - with resulting discussion and cross-pollination among Liverpool’s tech community.

SevenStreets can barely tell a USB from a SCSI, but talks on ethics in art and a speaker who’s an ‘experienced mother’ caught our eye.

Nine speakers and three TED talks are currently scheduled. Tickets for the event cost £15.
