Get Switched on to Sea Odyssey

Two new developments for this weekend's Sea Odyssey. Get ready for one of those great Liverpool weekends...

We’re counting the hours before the little girl wakes up dazed and confused in Everton (who hasn’t had a weekend like that?), and her uncle emerges from the waters of Albert Dock. And we’ve got the official map. It looks lovely, but it’s a little like looking at a map of the Tokyo underground. So maybe Liverpool-based mobile app-development studio, Apposing, will come to our rescue. They’ve completed the official app for this weekend’s ‘Sea Odyssey’.

Designed by Liverpool’s Black and Ginger, the free iPhone application will us navigate the routes, and get the most out of this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Users will be able to access times and routes alongside a handy GPS map to ensure they’re correctly placed to see all the action. The app also allows users to take photographs with special filters and frames branded with the Sea Odyssey logo to document the event. The photographs can then be shared immediately on social media channels. You’ll find it in the iTunes App Store.

Use the app to follow Little Girl Giant’s progress and you’ll be on time for the big turning on again of Richard Wilson’s critically acclaimed public art work,Turning the Place Over at Moorfields, sometime tomorrow, Friday 20 April.

The sculpture will be ‘re-awakened’ when the Giant Girl passes through Moorfields and switches the revolving sculpture back on. The piece will remain turning over the weekend as Sea Odyssey unfolds.
