Hope Street Feast returns for 2012

Hooray! The annual party across one of the city's most historic streets pencils in a date.

Hope Street Feast

One of the highlights of Liverpool’s bulging summer diary, Hope Street Feast is always a treat. Essentially a village fete plonked in the hub of the city’s Georgian Quarter, it’s been steadily gaining popularity over its past seven years, and you’ll be chuffed to hear it’s setting up again this September.

The Feast’s biggest draw is its always-packed food market: snaffle some farm produce, artisan goodness and all manner of delicious stuff to take home. Alongside that this year will be two live music programmes, including a folksy, rootsy set of artists over at Myrtle St’s After 8 stage.

Liverpool Philharmonic holds an open day: there’ll be two free performances by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (featuring everyone’s favourite conductor Vasily Petrenko), as well as the Rhos Orpheus Male Choir, the Youth Orchestra and West Everton Super Strings. The Philharmonic’s Rosewald Suite is also set to host an intriguing ‘Conversations About Music’ session of talks with a to-be-announced set of musicians and other cultural figures.

Blackburne House houses its typically great arts and crafts fair too, and this year’s street theatre event? ‘The Lost Games of Liverpool’, a sporting themed event of activities and challenges - more on that soon.

There’s time for you to get involved: if you fancy trading in the market pop an email over to [email protected]. If the craft fair’s more your style, bag a table over at [email protected].
