Fancy owning Lennon’s lavvy?

A forthcoming auction at LIPA could bag you some wonderfully bizarre bits of of Beatles swag.

John Lennon's toilet
We’ve haven’t posted much about The Beatles but this nugget of news just couldn’t be ignored: John Lennon’s loo is going up for sale.

In what’s possibly the weirdest Beatles lot we’ve heard of (those ‘locks of hair’ auctions always creep us out too), John’s toilet from his Berkshire home in the late 60s is to be sold off this weekend at the city’s annual Beatles Auction.

Given to his former builder to use as a plant pot, it’s expected to break the £1000 mark when it’s put up this Saturday.

John Lennon's Two Virgins

On a more musical tip, the event’s also set to feature an ultra rare mono vinyl copy of the ‘Unfinished Music No.1: Two Virgins’ album, which features John and Yoko naked on the cover. It’s believed there were only 200 mono copies ever produced, and all were enclosed in brown paper bags because of the controversial nude sleeve.

There’s some other interesting lots, too: son Julian’s harmonica, various rare Beatles vinyl, and a piece of The Cavern’s original stage are all available. It all kicks off at LIPA this Saturday - get yourself down there to grab the most rock ‘n’ roll throne in the whole of the UK.
