Africa Oyé confirmed for 2013

Rejoice! One of the city's best festivals is definitely returning this summer. Put these dates in your diary.

Like many of you, we were disappointed last year that Africa Oyé was the result of a rather unfortunate summer rainfall.

With a rain-sodden ground in Sefton Park after hours of heavy showers, the festival was forced to perform a hasty move indoors, taking over The Picket on Jordan Street. It wasn’t quite the lazing-around-in-the-sunshine we all had in mind, but it was a decent (and quickly executed) backup plan, so the festival - in a certain form - still went ahead.

We’re delighted to hear that, despite last year’s issues, Africa Oyé have today confirmed their dates for the 2013 edition. And yes, it’s still outdoors. Taking place on 22nd and 23rd June in its spiritual home, Sefton Park, the festival’s promising that it’s going to be better than ever. Announcements are expected in the coming weeks and as usual, it’s set to be a raft of completely thrilling talent from Africa and beyond. We’ll see you there.
