Pushing Boundaries: RIBA talk this week

Bringing the best in new architectural practices to the city, RIBA's Pushing Boundaries series returns this week.

We like to think we care about the shape of our city - and you do too. So this week sees an event worth squeezing in time for.

RIBA North West has snagged ace young architect Joe Morris of Duggan Morris to take part in the ‘Pushing Boundaries’ lecture series, this Wednesday 13 February at the Art & Design Academy, Liverpool John Moores University.

RIBA’s engaging Pushing Boundaries series is bringing heavyweight designers, such as Adam Khan (he did the wonderful Brockholes Nature Centre up Preston way) to the North West to muse over the future of architecture and the shape of the world around us.

And we’re intrigued to see what Duggan Morris will have to say. His previous work’s included inspired and liveable mixed-tenure housing schemes (oh for some inspired housing schemes in this city), the new International Design Centre in Chelsea, and plenty of those swanky houses we see in property porn shows.

“We are delighted to bring Joe to the North West and provide a chance for people to hear from one of the most exciting young practices in the country today,” says Andrew Ruffler, Regional Director for RIBA North West. “We look forward to hearing Joe speak and learning more about both his and the practice’s philosophy and their approach to the design process.”

Should be an interesting event, for all of us with a passion for the built environment, and of how we intersect with it.

Tickets from RIBA North West office on 0151 703 0107. Tickets are £7 / £5 RIBA members/students.

Review: The Rocky Horror Show, Liverpool Empire
