The Brink on Parr Street: now Royal approved

Today (5th January) the Duchess of Cambridge - or Kate Middleton as she was known when she was one of us - announced a selection of her patronages, where she’ll offer support and some much-needed publicity to charities that really deserve it.

Amongst the four announced today is Action on Addiction - otherwise known as the organisation who run the freshly-opened Brink space on Parr Street. If you’ve not been to Brink before, it’s the city’s only booze-free venue/cafe/restaurant, and is rather brilliant.

Action on Addiction are a nationwide charity that work with research, prevention, treatment, and also run a series of bricks-and-mortar social hubs, of which The Brink is one.

It’s all very exciting, and great publicity for an operation who are quietly and successfully doing positive work across the UK. If you’re a fan of the Royals, it also means you should keep an eye out for Kate knocking around town in the near future.

This is such a coup. Addiction is always at the bottom of the heap when it comes to charitable giving and general support. My guess is that Kate will be behind the bar at The Brink very very soon!

This is fantastic news that the Royals are getting behind such a great venue and a brilliant cause! brinkliverpool #YearOfTheBrink
