Liverpool… Then and Now

Our weekly Picture This series made us look back with sadness, and a longing for the days of Double Diamond neon, rather than oversized digital screens....

We had a great response to our film noirish shot of Liverpool in the 50s the other week - but, equally, we had a few emails asking us where, exactly, it was taken.

Well, fear not, as SevenStreets reader Dan Hewitson retraced the photographer’s steps to create the snap above (click on it for an embiggened / full version). “It was so much nicer back then,” he says.

We have a feeling he’s got a point…

Thanks Dan!

Well in Dan. I wonder whether anyone can confirm for sure when NEMS in Great Charlotte Street closed. Cheers.

Fresh & new

Review: Bravo Figaro!

— A very different kind of show from Mark Thomas is a beautiful piece of work that doesn't patronise his father's illness, not ignore his frailties, as they connect over a love of opera.
