Love Lennon. Love Yoko. But, the bed in?

Want to end wars? Stay in bed. No, really, it's that simple. The Bluecoat relives the world's most famous lie-in.

Bluecoat bed inSo the Bluecoat is re-enacting Lennon and Yoko’s bed in next month, in part to mark the month Lennon would have celebrated his 70th birthday, and they’re still looking for volunteers.

Well, much as we love Lennon, and cherish Yoko, we’re not so sure that Lennon’s political gestures were ever as sure footed as his music. Imagine no possessions. No, really, you first. And the bed-in? Well, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to take all that time off…

The Bluecoat’s project will see a bed in the Hub (the central foyer) for 62 days. That’s surely enough time to reflect on the fact that, really, he should’ve stuck to doing what he did best.

Lennon’s back catalogue? That’s his true manifesto, and we’re lifelong members.

The rest is noise.

Still, we’ll take lying in bed over Bono’s pope-worrying megalomania any day.

Bed-in at the Bluecoat, 9 October onwards
The Bluecoat, School Lane, Liverpool

The Bluecoat is launching its shiny new website on 9 October, too, with live streaming of the event.
