BLOG Millions of street style sites and fashion bloggers clog up the web with endless images of fresh-faced, groomed young things. So it’s great to see a blog celebrating true individual style in the form of a different generation: photographer Ari Seth Cohen highlights the headstrong, unique older people of New York and further afield, from gloriously crazy style to practical simplicity to sophisticated chic. Best of all, it doesn’t feel tokenistic - this is a real, honest celebration of getting older. “I don’t care about style, I make style” said one recently featured. SITE The team at SevenStreets love subscribing to magazines. Having something pop in our letterbox is satisfying and exciting, right? MUSIC One of our new favourite bands of the year (and yes, they’re from Brooklyn) are this peppy synth outfit, Carousel. New Works At The Walker

ART They’ve got a good eye at the Walker - as this new exhibition of their newly acquired swag testifies. We loved the delicate silver vases and Marcus Coates shamanistic rituals in a condemned tower block, but the gorgeous, backlit photos of the Linnaeus Society’s library gave us a bit of book envy too. And Ben Johnson’s preparatory studies for his Liverpool cityscape are just mind boggling in their complexity. Well worth a look.

Lost Voices at View Two Gallery, Thursday 28th March

GIG Tucked away on Mathew Street, the View Two often flies under the radar, but regularly showcases some really impressive, engaging stuff. This Thursday they’re playing host to accordion virtuoso Jesús Peñaranda, Berlin trumpet & drum improv duo Superimpose, and Liverpool songwriter Joseph Biltone as part of an always-eclectic Lost Voices evening. Recommended. £6/£4. More information

Fiction at Shipping Forecast, Wednesday 27th March

GIG London lads Fiction are signed to the excellent Moshi Moshi records, and make a fine racket in the form of slinky, intelligent, Talking Heads-style indie pop. There’s a heavy nod to the 80s (isn’t there always?) but Fiction’s ricocheting post punk feels forward thinking and fun, too. Local’uns Broken Men, Oxygen Thieves and Shadow Theatre support. 8pm.

Maddiecam

APP By now you’ll know Maddie on Things, a blog where rescued coonhound Maddie is, er, photographed on things. Standing on a bike. Standing on a basketball hoop. Standing on anything. Looking cool, basically. Well, now you can put her on things yourself in the form of Maddiecam, an app that lets you turn your phone pics into a Maddie playground. Funds go towards the Maddie book tour, highlighting the important work of dog rescue.
