Hooray. After this afternoon’s terrible news that Africa Oye had been forced to pull their big Sefton Park shindig this weekend, the team have announced a backup plan.
The original lineup for Saturday’s Africa Oye is set to move to The Picket (Greenland St) - things kick off at 5pm, running until 11pm. The Blade Factory at Camp & Furnace (formerly A Foundation) will be hosting Oye DJs from 5pm til 11pm around the corner too.
The Picket’s a warehouse venue down in the Baltic Quarter, so it won’t have quite the same love ‘n’ hugs sunny families-in-a-field vibe of its outdoor counterpart, but the sheer fact they’ve managed to salvage something out of this situation is cause for a massive knees-up. Make sure you show your support.
Here’s the full statement we’ve received:

[…] I write, there’s talk of finding some inside space for some of the music to take place in. And that would be good. But it won’t be Africa Oyé. […]
[…] But just because the weather’s disgusting, and it’s brought along a sense of collective misery, that you shouldn’t be stuck at home.
