Liverpool Pride Weekend: Show Yours

It’s that time of year again. Liverpool Pride is busting out all over, this weekend, as the festival brings a bit of colour to our streets.

Expect a cavalcade of Superheroes marching from St George’s Plateau, from 12pm on Saturday as the city’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, and their friends blaze a trail of glory, glitter and improbably tight spandex. What, my friends, is not to like?

The march will take in Lime Street before switching back to Queen Square Bus Station and Whitechapel, making its way along Lord Street and North John Street, into James Street, crossing The Strand over Mann Island and landing in front of the Waterfront Stage at the Pier Head, where the fun really begins.

The Waterfront Stage will welcome Geordie Shore’s Jay Gardner and the Hollyoaks cast. Music comes from X Factor’s (really quite good) Amelia Lily, Agadoo-toting’ Black Lace, 90′s house stars Baby D and the touring cast of the West End musical Rent.

Back in Stanley Street, Desperate Scousewives’ Amanda Harrington and Layla Flaherty will up the camp-o-metre, with a host of local acts.

To keep things safe, security’s higher up the agenda this year: both stage sites will be fenced, but free to get in. Just don’t bring any drink with you - as you have to buy it at the venues.

Elsewhere, there’s a mini film fest at FACT, screening Desert Hearts, I Want Your Love and the touching French documentary, Les Invisibles.
