Radar: Arctic Monkeys at Liverpool Echo Arena

Sheffield's second finest band (after the Human League, obviously) return to arenas this autumn, including a stop-off in Liverpool.

Arctic Monkeys

We’re glad the Arctic Monkeys are back, you know. After a bit of a wobble a couple of years ago (when they decided to smoke too much and become Queens of the Stone Age), the dry Sheffield rock boys have put down their bongs and found their niche again, if new single ‘Do I Wanna Know’ is anything to go by. Streamlining the band’s psyche-y tendencies, and coupled with Alex Turner’s still-brilliant lyricisms, it’s a really quite excellent return to form.

To celebrate the release of forthcoming album ‘AM’, they’re heading across the country this October, including a date at the Echo Arena. Borderline bizarre 60s tribute band children The Strypes are set to support, which is well worth a gawp.
